about

Here are a couple songs that didn't seem to fit on any of the other 3 Lifeguard Nights albums I'm working on at the moment. So I figured I'd release them as a 7" single (minus the actual 7" vinyl) on the anniversary of Sandy, given the subject matter of both songs.

"For Shore" was written one year ago in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane/Superstorm/Shitstorm Sandy, as we sat in our damp dirty house without heat or power, going slightly insane. Tark tark tark, my good sir. That sucked, but it could have sucked at lot worse. All things considered, we were pretty lucky. Just about everyone in the area was hit hard, including our percussionist PJ who is still not back in his house one year later. FU Sandy. It's pretty self-explanatory.

"Some Kind of Animal" was written on my honeymoon 5 years ago on the cliffs of La Jolla, same afternoon I wrote "In This Light" from "The Miss Factory, Vol. 1" and "Miracle" from "Lifeboat For Fatty" -- it was a real productive couple hours. Anywho, this song was originally slated to appear on a special Mike Gallina-produced Lifeguard Nights album called "The Way of the Hen" but that whole thing fizzled out and it sat in the Leftovers pile for a few years. I sent it off to Steve Dans a few months back and he and Boro had fun with it. Then the rest of us had fun with it. It's fun.

If anyone actually buys this, I'll donate the proceeds to the Red Cross.
