about

In the Spring of 2010, a bunch of us rented a house in the Holgate section of LBI and had the best week ever. Beachfront house, beautiful weather, swimming, bike-riding, mini-golf, grilling, boozing and recording. There was even a marriage proposal in there, as Guardette Katy Cunningham asked our very own Boris Veysman to marry her on the beach one night (he said yes), complete with fireworks. It was a magical week all around.

I had a bunch of rough guitar/vocal tracks recorded, and so every night Steve and Boris and I would get together and I'd do a little conducting (occasionally sans pants) and they would lay down hot drums and bass. Timmay laid down an original acoustic guitar track one day which would become "Submarine." Steve Dans laid down some beats to a click track, and those would go on to become "Fancy Boys Own the Road," "March of the Damned," and "Locked Out." It was a real treat taking their ideas and working with them to create some wonderfully unique collaborations. I think those are all my favorite songs on the album.

It did take a while for some of these songs to take shape though, with plenty of revisions, addition, subtraction, nuclear physics, chemistry, biology and even some bikini mud-wrasslin'. It wasn't always easy but it was definitely fun. Ultimately I think it was worth all the time and energy and I'm real proud of how this turned out, and as always I'm proud to have such wonderful creative pals on the team.

We hope you have as great of a time listening to it, as we did making it.
